New picture underway

September 1, 2014
For the past few days (on and off!) I've been working on another seaside/harbour/fishy picture. Here's a photo of what I've achieved so far. Any ideas for a title?

We're at the Alfriston Festival

August 21, 2014
**STOP PRESS**  We will be running a stall at Alfriston Festival from this Saturday 23rd August to Bank Holiday Monday inclusive! On display, and for sale, will be original paintings; beautifully mounted, high quality prints and A5 size greetings cards - all designed and produced by us! You'll find us in the War Memorial Hall just by St Andrew's Parish Church. It's where all the teas are being served so please drop by and have a look! We are pleased to be supporting the JPK Charity, raising money to build and maintain supported accommodation for adults with learning difficulties in Eastbourne and the surrounding area. See you there?!

Something a little different

August 19, 2014
Recently I came across a beautiful embroidery by Terri Mitchell, whilst looking at the website 'Folt Bolt'. I was bowled over by her colourful work and based my own attempt here on one of her impressive works.

Fun with acrylics and tiles

August 7, 2014
My lovely niece, Amy, and I had a great experimental arty morning on Wednesday with acrylics on white tiles. We had lots of fun and managed to produce some colourful results. I really love Amy's 'Sunset over the Sea'. It must be Cobo beach in Guernsey!

Family name picture commission completed!

July 29, 2014
I'm very excited that the family name picture is completed and successfully delivered to its commissioner, Rachel, who has given her kind permission for us to share it. She loves it, as do the rest of the family - phew! The picture itself is 16" x 12" and is fully mounted and framed as the customer ordered. I used pen, gloriously bright watercolour dyes and just a few watercolour paints, with iridescent embellishment to add a soft sheen and shimmer to chosen sections. Rachel tells me that the picture now has pride of place in her family room and is being much admired by friends and family alike. You can link to the page here or, to discuss your own order, please contact us here or use the website order page.

St Peter Port Harbour

May 20, 2014
As any Guern knows, the town harbour is the most beautiful in the world! There is nothing like the wonderful feeling of home, as I sail into its safe arms, while the sun rises over Herm and Sark, bathing the buildings and the sea in translucent light. Ahhh! - Julia x

The original is with our son in Munich, but prints are available here

The Seven Sisters

May 19, 2014
An iconic feature of the Sussex coastline, with a twist! The original painting and prints can be seen here

East from Holywell, Eastbourne

May 17, 2014
It is said that distant views are good for the eyesight, especially when the view is this one! This original painting is one of several we have just added to the website. Prints are also available, in two sizes - 10" x 8" and 16" x 12". See it here.

New section - Digital Art!

April 2, 2014
I thought I'd try my hand at some digital art and the first results are now up on the website. Click here to see the pictures.

Inspired initially by the lovely prints of Brighton-based artist Daniel Laurence the first series of pictures features the strange movements of a group of yellow fish!

I have also started a new series of Butterfly pictures, this time inspired by the dreamlike and ethereal paintings of Jenni Murphy

I hope you like them! Framed and unframed prints are available in the shop.
